Workhorse barbell6/23/2023 Good idea, not really enforceable though. One solution I have seen before is saying "You are not allowed to enter the scaled division if you can do strict pull-ups". What organizers should do, however, is restricting access to the lower levels by some means. Comp organizers then falsely think the entire field has gotten fitter and workouts get harder. If enough people do this, every division is at some point equally strong, ruining it for beginners and less fit athletes. This rarely works out to win the division though, as more and more people are getting the same idea. In every scaled competition there is always at least one team or individual completely smoking everyone else because they belong into a higher division. Why? Because they have the choice of placing bottom 20% in the higher category or top 20% in the lower and their ego makes them chose the latter. I know lots of people who regularly register for "scaled" while meeting every prerequisite for intermediate, or registering for intermediate while being able to go "advanced" etc. In my experience the initial problem lies in athletes registering for a division that is too weak for them because they eitherī) don't want to look bad and instead of competing with people on their level or slightly better they'd rather destroy a lower division.
